PHC IPM Technician
Technicians at Eric Putnam BCMA are responsible for carrying out plant health treatments in the field based on established work orders. All treatments are defined in advance by consulting arborists. This is a production-focused role. PHC technicians do not diagnose problems or prescribe work. The technician’s responsibility is to complete that work safely, accurately, and efficiently.

- This is a physically demanding, year-round outdoor role that requires consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
- Complete scheduled treatments on trees and landscapes based on predefined work orders.
- A typical day includes prepping materials, driving a company vehicle on a set route, and completing treatments at multiple properties using company equipment.
- This is a field production role. All work is prescribed in advance by consulting arborists or requested by the client.
What Our PHC Technicians Do
Technicians spend the majority of their time completing scheduled work exactly as outlined in Arbostar.

Executing treatments such as sprays, soil injections, and other PHC services
10% Equipment & material handling
Mixing products, maintaining tanks and rigs, and preparing for daily routes
5% Job completion and routing
Following daily schedules, navigating between properties, and completing assigned work orders
Daily Field Activity
Technicians operate on a route-based schedule and are assigned work orders each day.
A typical day includes:
• driving to multiple properties across the Greater Houston region
• completing treatments exactly as specified in the work order
• moving efficiently between stops to maintain production
Work volume varies by season, with peak workload during active growing periods.
Scope of Work
Technicians are responsible for completing treatments, not determining them.
All work is prescribed by a consulting arborist and are expected to follow the scope exactly as written.
Work Environment
This is physically demanding, outdoor work.
Technicians must be able to:
• work in heat, humidity, and changing weather
• handle equipment and materials throughout the day
• move across residential and commercial properties
• maintain pace and productivity across multiple stops
This is not a light-duty or office-based position.
Treatment Responsibilities
Technicians apply treatments using proper methods, materials, and safety standards.
Common applications include:
• foliar sprays for pest and disease control
• soil injections and root-zone treatments
• fertilization and nutrient applications
The focus is on correct execution, not evaluation.
Equipment and Materials
PHC technicians are responsible for handling and maintaining their equipment.
This includes:
• mixing and measuring treatment materials
• operating spray rigs and application equipment
• maintaining clean and functional work trucks
• following all safety and label requirements
Proper handling and consistency are critical to the role.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliability and consistency in a production environment
- Experience in tree care, landscaping, or similar field work
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned work without supervision
