Responsibilities
The consulting arborist role includes a mix of field consultation, written recommendations, client education, follow-up, internal coordination, and ongoing professional development.
40% Field Consultations
Meet directly with property owners and warm leads to evaluate tree health, structural condition, and site factors affecting management decisions.
20% Written Recomendations
Prepare scopes of work, treatment plans, consulting letters, and practical guidance clients can understand and act on.
15% Client Education
Explain pests, stress, decline factors, realistic outcomes, and responsible next steps in a professional and approachable way.
10% Follow Up & Monitoring
Review prior consultations, answer questions, and help maintain continuity between recommendations and outcomes.
10% Internal Coordination
Coordinate with office and operations staff so recommendations are translated accurately into work orders and treatment plans.
5% Meetings & Development
Participate in weekly meetings, share field observations, and continue building professional consulting skills with the team.
Day-to-Day Expectations
Consulting arborists work directly with property owners, managers, and project teams to diagnose tree health concerns and guide responsible management decisions. This is a field-based consulting role with a practical workload and clear expectations. This role requires the ability to work outdoors across varied terrain and conditions.
6 to 8 visits per day
Higher volumes may occur during peak growing seasons.
Work spans a wide range of property types, including:
- Residential properties
- Commercial landscapes
- Construction sites
- Large estates, Ranches and acreage properties
- Pest or stress-related evaluations
What You Evaluate
Consulting arborists assess a wide range of conditions, including:
- Insect and pest infestations
- Fungal and bacterial diseases
- Soil health and nutrient deficiencies
- Irrigation issues
- Root damage and compaction
- Structural stability and tree risk
- Construction-related impacts
- Environmental stress such as drought or heat
